REG E & OPT IN
What You need to know about the new regulations
regarding Overdraft on Debit Cards and a new requirement to
opt-in
|
Important Notice: Overdraft Advance Opt-In Required |
|
| Due to recent regulatory changes, it is now necessary that you opt-in to allow the payment of everyday point-of-sale transactions and your ATM transactions in case where such payment will result in your account being overdrawn. If you wish to continue authorizing the credit union to pay such transactions after July 1, 2010, you must opt-in. If you do not opt-in, the credit union will deny point-of-sale transactions and ATM transactions if you do not have sufficient funds to cover them. |

Overdrafts
An overdraft
occurs when you do not have enough funds in your account to
cover a transaction, but ADVANCED FINANCIAL pays it anyway.
ADVANCED FINANCIAL can cover your overdrafts in two
different ways:
-
We have
standard overdraft practices that come with
your account. (Explained below)
-
We also offer
overdraft protection plans, such as a link
to a savings account with no cost.
To learn more, ask us about
these plans. We may pay overdrafts at our discretion,
which means we DO NOT GUARANTEE we will always authorize and
pay any type of transaction. If we do NOT authorize and pay
an overdraft, your transactions will be declined. ADVANCED
FINANCIAL may at its discretion and at anytime, discontinue
the Overdraft Allowance program on your account and declare
all balances due and payable.
Current Standard
Overdraft Practices
What
are the standard overdraft practices that come with my
account? If an overdraft occurs we may authorize
and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
-
Checks and
other transactions made using your checking
account number
-
Automatic bill
payments
-
ACH items
New Standard
Overdraft Practices
Beginning July 1 for New Customers and after August 15 for
existing customers We will not authorize
and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions
unless you authorize us to by opting-in:
-
ATM
Transactions
-
Everyday
CheckCard (debit card) purchases

Overdraft Fees
What
fees will I be charged if ADVANCED FINANCIAL pays my
overdraft? Under our standard overdraft practices,
we will charge you an insufficient funds fee of $35.00 each
time we pay an overdraft. There is no limit on the total
fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account,
however, the overdraft limit is established at a $500*
maximum.
Fees listed in this
disclosure are effective as of April, 2010, and are subject
to change. Please refer to a current ADVANCED FINANCIAL
Schedule of Fees & Charges for any fee updates.
The BENEFITS of
overdraft protection:
-
It is
convenient.
-
It saves
embarrassment.
-
It provides a
safety net.
-
It is good to
have in an emergency.
If you decide to
OPT-IN:
-
The bank will
try to cover your everyday debit card and
ATM transactions regardless of the funds
that exist in your account (ATM daily limits
also apply).
-
There is no
fee to OPT-IN to the protection.
-
There is a $35
overdraft fee each time we pay a transaction
when you have insufficient funds
available. You will incur the fees ONLY if
we actually cover the overdraft for you.
If you decide NOT to
OPT-IN:
-
The bank will
not cover your everyday debit card and ATM
transactions when there are insufficient
funds in your account and your transaction
